Apple Computer, Inc. recently changed the name of American rock act The White Stripes to The Whistle Stripes before realizing the Cupertino, CA-based company was not in the position to change the band’s name and thereon renamed the band a second time, back to The White Stripes. No word yet on whether Apple also remarried Jack and Meg Whistle.

This superb installment of the “VH1 Rock Doc” franchise returns us to the weekend of June 16-18, 1967, and the Monterey Pop Festival, which somehow pales historically beside Woodstock but was at least as musically and culturally significant.

Much Music is streaming the new White Stripes album Icky Thump for free. It’s better than MTV’s stream. Plus it’s good. Real good.

This is a 1/2 hour interview with Mary Guibert, Jeff Buckley’s mother, on the 10th anniversary of Jeff’s death, preserving the dignity of his legacy and more. She seems really cool and there are some really touching moments. Worth a listen if you have the time and a download if you don’t.
